Rock band Normandie had a really well-executed release strategy leading up to their newest fourth Album Dopamine.
Almost exactly three years after Normandie’s third album, Dark & Beautiful Secrets, the band released the first single from their Dopamine album, titled “Blood in the Water” on August 1st, 2023. While simultaneously announcing their upcoming album with this release, the band promised to put out a new single from Dopamine every month leading up to the album’s release on February 9th of this year. As a result, fans could now expect regular updates every month, and hear the upcoming album take shape.
While consistently releasing a single every month, Normandie were able to increase their playlist reach from 3.1 million prior to the first single, to their current playlist reach of 8.1 million*. The band now has over 587,000 monthly listeners, and their monthly release strategy was a great way to build up a buzz around the album, ensuring that the release date was met with plenty of streams from fans.
I’ve been a fan of Normandie since first discovering them during the pandemic, and it’s been great to watch them grow. Not only are they all very talented musicians and producers, but their release strategy is a testament to having a plan for your music going out into the world that many artists can benefit from.
What other release strategies have you seen from artists that have helped accelerate their music’s growth?
